10 Tips for Successful Business Networking

By Stephanie Speisman

Effective business networking is the linking together of individuals who, through trust and relationship building, become walking, talking advertisements for one another.

  1. Keep in mind that networking is about being genuine and authentic, building trust and relationships, and seeing how you can help others.
  2. Ask yourself what your goals are in participating in networking meetings so that you will pick groups that will help you get what you are looking for. Some meetings are based more on learning, making contacts, and/or volunteering rather than on strictly making business connections.
  3. Visit as many groups as possible that spark your interest. Notice the tone and attitude of the group. Do the people sound supportive of one another? Does the leadership appear competent? Many groups will allow you to visit two times before joining.
  4. Hold volunteer positions in organizations. This is a great way to stay visible and give back to groups that have helped you.
  5. Ask open-ended questions in networking conversations. This means questions that ask who, what, where, when, and how as opposed to those that can be answered with a simple yes or no. This form of questioning opens up the discussion and shows listeners that you are interested in them.
  6. Become known as a powerful resource for others. When you are known as a strong resource, people remember to turn to you for suggestions, ideas, names of other people, etc. This keeps you visible to them.
  7. Have a clear understanding of what you do and why, for whom, and what makes your doing it special or different from others doing the same thing. In order to get referrals, you must first have a clear understanding of what you do that you can easily articulate to others.
  8. Be able to articulate what you are looking for and how others may help you. Too often people in conversations ask, “How may I help you?” and no immediate answer comes to mind.
  9. Follow through quickly and efficiently on referrals you are given. When people give you referrals, your actions are a reflection on them. Respect and honor that and your referrals will grow.
  10. Call those you meet who may benefit from what you do and vice versa. Express that you enjoyed meeting them, and ask if you could get together and share ideas.

The Poison in Your Colon!

The colon is a vital part of a healthy, functioning body. It plays a role in digestion, Colonin your immune system, and in maintaining the water balance in your body. The colon is the part of the large intestine extending from the cecum to the rectum. A colon that is not working properly will hold toxic waste longer than is good for you. An unhealthy colon is one that does not move the waste along efficiently enough. It  results in this toxic waste being absorbed by the wall of the colon and into the bloodstream. For a healthy colon, it takes less than 24 hours for food to transit through our body. But with modern eating habits (processed food that lacks enzymes, fibers and nutrients) the transit time slows down to 70 hours.  This results in a toxic colon and up to 30 pounds of accumulated waste.

And the most common sign of having a toxic colon is a condition called constipation.   Constipation occurs when waste materials move too slowly through the large bowel, resulting in infrequent and/or painful elimination.

Toxic colon Symptoms:

  • Digestive symptoms
Constipation, bloating, diarrhea, gas, indigestion, stomach pain
  • General health
    Joint pain, muscle pain
  • Behavioral symptoms
Depression, fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, mood swings, poor memory
  • Immune system
Weak immune system, recurrent vaginal or bladder infections, skin rashes

Bernard Jensen DC, ND, PhD is one of the pioneers who used colon cleansing to improve a person’s quality of life. In his book, Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management, he explains the importance of colon cleansing: “the heavy mucus coating in the colon thickens and becomes a host of putrefication. The blood capillaries to the colon begin to pick up the toxins, poisons and noxious debris as it seeps through the bowel wall. All tissues and organs of the body are now taking on toxic substances. Here is the beginning of true autointoxication on a physiological level. This accumulation can have the consistency of truck tire rubber. It’s that hard and black.”

Be The Change!

Below is an article written by Richard MacKenzie, it is truly inspiring. I hope you are as inspired as well.

Well it is a long time since I have written on the topic of karma and giving and today after catching the morning news I feel that now is an important time to share something with you on this topic

I want each and every person that reads this article today to get something from it and better still I want them to give something to their world to make it a more loving, peaceful and utterly fantastic place to be. Ghandi once said, ‘be the change that you want to see in the world’. Look at your world, your community – what does it need right now? What change can you be to the world?

Not a few weeks ago I heard of a stabbing and a shooting that took place on the streets of my capital city, London. Since that I hear about car bombs in Iraq and massacres in Virginia. It would be all too easy for us to write our world off as a place that is beyond repair and see it as someone else’s problem. Yet if we do nothing then ultimately we are responsible too.

So, will you join me in bringing a little more peace, love and happiness to the world – your world? In articles similar to this in the past I have already covered karma and viral smiling, but now I want to take it to the next level and see what we can change in our lives forever that would benefit ourselves and our world. For instance let’s take something basic to explain. If you really made the effort to smile at 20 people today in order to have them smile then that is perfect, however how great would it be if you worked on the very things that would naturally make you smile on a daily basis? Say you worked on your confidence, motivation or wealth. If that worked then just think of all those natural smiles each and every week.

I met a man sometime ago that said that he would love to earn more money so that he could support a child’s education in Africa. He made the changes to his life and ultimately made the changes to the life and prospect of that little girl in Africa. I have heard of others that have changed their vocation to actually go to Africa and teach these kids themselves, so now its time to stand in front of a mirror and see what you can change as a benefit to you and the world around.

I wrote this sometime ago,

I have only one mouth

Yet can choose to speak wisely

I have only one heart

Yet can choose to love unconditionally

I have only one mind

Yet can choose to think positively

My uniqueness, My Individuality and My Distinctiveness is my strength, as;

I have only two eyes

Yet choose to see hope

I have only two ears

Yet choose to hear joy

I have only two feet

Yet today I choose to stand up and make a change to my world!

If you want to see change then you have to make change! Do something today to benefit the world around you.
